If your instrument isn’t working properly, ask your band teacher to have a look at it right away before you miss out on playing in class. Many problems can be fixed easily by someone who has the tools and expertise and often that person is your teacher! If your teacher can’t get it fixed they’ll refer you to one of the repair shops listed below. If you are using an instrument owned by the school district your teacher will take it to be repaired.
***ATTENTION BRASS PLAYERS***
If your mouthpiece gets stuck DO NOT USE ANY TOOLS ON IT! There are special tools for this problem and they don’t result in the kinds of damage that well-meaning helpers often cause (see photo above!). Take it to school and ask your teacher for help, or take it to a repair shop.
